Hotel Review – Lea Marston Hotel Warwickshire

After a fun packed day visiting Drayton Manor,  the 4-star Lea Marston hotel offered an idyllic escape to recharge our batteries after a day of theme park fun.

Set in 54 acres of the stunning Warwickshire countryside just outside Sutton Coldfield the hotel is only 6 miles away from Drayton Manor and it could not have been more convenient for an overnight stay. Car parking was complimentary and there were lots of spaces available.

We had a friendly warm welcome from the reception staff and the check in process was quick and efficient.

We checked into our family room which was modern and clean. Consisting of a double bed, single bed and a truckle bed our room was very snug with the three beds in the room. Whilst not luxurious it was perfectly adequate for an overnights stay, and the beds were really comfortable.

However for families of four I would recommend booking either 2 interconnecting rooms or one of the hotel suites for the extra space offered.

There was a good-sized desk if you were planning to work, complimentary wifi and a HDTV wall mounted flat screen television. Within our room were tea and coffee making facilities but I felt that little extra touches that we have had in comparable hotels were missing. Having welcome amenities such as bathrobes, slippers and complimentary water would have been a charming and welcoming addition.

Unusually the rooms had no air conditioning, safe or fridge which was unexpected for a 4 star hotel, although the new superior hotel rooms at the Lea Marston do offer these facilities and are definitely worth upgrading to.

The modern bathroom was nicely appointed with a large walk in shower (although surprisingly for a family room no bath) and Gilchrist and Soames toiletries.

A great feature of the Lea Marston hotel for families was that it had a lovely indoor swimming pool, which the girls quickly said was the number one attraction of the hotel. Other leisure amenities included a sauna, steam room, gym and an Elemis Spa.

There were lots of nice communal spaces to relax in, with a stylish bar and a lounge area off the lobby with lots of comfortable seating areas.

The hotels main restaurant Adderley is closed on Sunday evenings, and the limited menu and quite high prices for bar meals offered at the Hathaways bar meant that we had to leave the hotel for our evening meal. After a long day at a theme park and a quick dip in the pool the last thing we wanted was to step out into the cold, but were glad we did at The Cock In Restaurant, a 5 minute drive away. We were really hungry and this delightful country restaurant didn’t disappoint, our meals were of the highest quality and delicious.

The breakfast at the Lea Marston was delicious with lots of options from hot cooked breakfast to small pastries, fruit and cereals. The breakfast is served as buffet style but can also be cooked fresh to your requirements.

The level of service received during breakfast was exceptional and this high level of customer service is a credit to the hotel management because it really does make a difference during your stay.
