Hilton London Tower Bridge Hotel Review

If you are looking for a modern, family friendly hotel, with spacious rooms and in a great location to explore London, then the Hilton London Tower Bridge is for you.

During the February half term we spent two nights at the Hilton London Tower Bridge, read on for our honest review of our stay.

What’s it like?

We travelled to London by train arriving into Paddington and with the new Elizabeth line it really makes travelling across the city much simpler.    Within 20 minutes of leaving Paddington we arrived at London Bridge underground via the Elizabeth and Jubilee lines and the Hilton London Bridge was no more than a 5 minute walk from the station.

First impressions of the hotel were impressive, the lobby was modern and contemporary fitting in with the industrial-artsy vibe of this part of the city.

Although there were many business people using the hotel, it still had a family feel and catered for children brilliantly.   I particularly liked the little touches, they had a candy trolley which was a hit with the kids and an iconic red telephone box which according to the kids was so aesthetic.

This cool contemporary design spans the ground floor leading into the hotel bar, Ruba with its cosy velvet sofas and armchairs which was always a popular spot for locals and residents to relax and enjoy the wide range of drinks on offer.  There is also a cool little snug area off the main bar which wouldn’t look out of place in a nightclub, it’s these little design features that really make this hotel stand out as not your typical Hilton.

We had a warm welcome to the hotel who acknowledged our Hilton Gold status and as we were a couple of hours early off the hotel check-in time, our luggage was stored securely allowing us to start exploring this part of the city.

What I really liked about the hotel was learning on check-in that the hotel treats Hilton Gold and Diamond members the same, so we had access to the hotel’s fantastic executive lounge on the 9th floor – more on this later.

Family rooms at the Hilton London Tower Bridge

There are 245 rooms here at Hilton London Tower Bridge, with a range of room categories to choose from catering for every type of traveller from standard rooms to executive rooms and suites.

After a busy day out, we were excited to see our home for the next few days and it didn’t disappoint.   We booked one of the hotels interconnecting deluxe rooms on the 6th floor and if you are travelling with teens like us, this room configuration is a great choice.

Both of our rooms were really spacious, ours had a king-sized bed and the girls room had two twin beds which had been decorated with balloons and birthday cake – the perfect way to start off a birthday celebration in London.

Much like you would expect at a Hilton hotel, the rooms were spacious, clean and modern, they had a similar contemporary design feel as the Hilton Bankside a short walk away on the Southbank, with creative wall art, leather headboards and quirky furnishings.  I particularly liked the comfortable chairs in the room which added to the sense of cosiness in the room.

One of my favourite things to do each morning was opening the curtains to the amazing views from our windows of the iconic Shard skyscraper and the sound proofing was just as impressive, we didn’t hear any traffic noise from the busy street below ensuring we all had a sound night’s sleep.

Rooms are kitted out with all the essentials: complimentary tea, coffee, safe, air conditioning, a smart TV, hairdryers and bath products courtesy of Crabtree and Evelyn.

Having robes and slippers was a nice touch in our deluxe category rooms – if you are a Hilton HHonors member you get free wifi and for gold guests you also receive two bottles of water daily.

As our readers will know we never tend to travel light so it was pleasing to find that both of our rooms had ample wardrobe space with more than enough hangers for our needs.

The bathrooms didn’t have the same level of wow factor as the bedrooms, but it was modern and functional with a shower over the bathtub, plenty of countertop space for storing your toiletries and the large, illuminated mirror was fab.

Dining

Breakfast here each morning was a real treat, as we had access to the executive lounge we were able to have breakfast here or at 1751 Distillery bar and kitchen, the hotels beautiful main restaurant – the eye catching neon sign as you enter sets the scene and you might spend your breakfast taking in the Instagrammable surroundings.

Here was a buffet selection, with both full English and continental choices and a chef is on hand in the open kitchens to make omelettes or any egg dish to order.   There was everything you would want from a breakfast here from yoghurt and granola stations to everything you need for a full English breakfast.

With so many restaurants in close proximity of the hotel we didn’t have dinner at the hotel but the menu looked excellent, instead we booked into the Ivy Tower Bridge which is a spectacular setting, ask for a table with views of the bridge.

Executive Lounge

Our favourite part of the hotel, was their executive lounge – a 9th floor oasis of calm serving all-day (7:30 – 9pm) complimentary refreshments to guests staying in executive rooms or those with Gold or Diamond status.  What made this lounge unique was its stunning outdoor terrace, filled with rattan furniture.

I loved bringing a warm drink out here each morning and taking in the incredible views of the Shard and over to the city of London.  In the warmer months having this as part of your executive lounge whilst enjoying drinks in the evening must be spectacular.

The girls really loved it here as did my husband and after busy days exploring the sights of London, the lounge was a lovely family friendly area to call back, unwind and relax.

In the morning, you’ll find pastries, cereals, fresh juices and a small selection of hot breakfast items.  Although the breakfast offer here is not as extensive as in the main restaurant, this was my favourite – a relaxing way to start our busy days exploring the city.  Mid-afternoon brings afternoon tea, while between 6pm and 8pm hot canapes and alcoholic drinks are served.

Location

The accessibility of Tower Bridge station, mere steps away from the hotel opens up the entire city to explore with the Northern and Jubilee line running through the station.

The Hilton Tower Bridge location really does encourage exploration, we loved walking along the river down to the Globe theatre, stopping off at Borough Market on-route and in the other direction was Hayes Galleria, HMS Belfast and the iconic Tower Bridge.

Checkout was as friendly and efficient as our check-in, and the hotel kept our luggage for the rest of the day so we could continue to enjoy our London city break until it was reluctantly time to return home.

Overall

Would we recommend a stay at this hotel? Yes without a doubt, we really enjoyed our stay here – the Hilton Tower Bridge ticked all the right boxes of what we were looking for during our visit to London and we would definitely return.

The interconnecting rooms here are perfect for families and if you can get an executive room its well worth the upgrade to have access to the lounge and its amazing outdoor rooftop terrace.
