We have put together a list of some of our favourite zoo and aquarium webcam streams from around the world that you can watch online for free with the kids.
From the beautiful panda at Edinburgh Zoo, watching the penguins set off on field trips at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago to the newly born lambs running around in Folly Farm in West Wales, these live streams have put smiles on our faces until we can visit them again in person in the near future.
San Diego Zoo
San Diego Zoo is one of our favourite zoo’s that we have visited. Their website features live cams from nine areas of their zoo. One of our favourites is their adorable Polar Bear cam.
Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium
With the aquarium closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, animals were given the chance to explore this huge building. One of our favourites when we visited last year were the penguins and it was so much fun to watch the live stream of their field trips especially watching Wellington, a rockhopper penguin walking around the aquarium and meeting the Beluga whales.
Since we can’t visit Chester Zoo right now, they are bringing the zoo into your home – opening their virtual gates for a virtual tour of our zoo for a whole day of fun facts, animal encounters and exclusive behind the scenes knowledge from their zoo keeper team!
Folly Farm is one of our favourite places to take the kids in Wales and thanks to their animals webcams you can see what their animals are up to even when the zoo is closed. You can watch their adorable new-born lambs, gorgeous giraffes, see the lions or watch the penguins during their feeding at 11am and 2pm.
Watching the elephants having their early morning bath at the Elephant habitat was so memorable during our visit to Houston Zoo last year, so it’s great to be able to check-in on what’s going via their Elephant yard cam, which provides some entertaining footage.
Georgia Aquarium is giving visitors a virtual look at its sea creatures via free live camera streaming and one of our personal favourites is their Beluga whales and the ocean voyager cam which provides sights of the underwater landscape.
The famous Edinburgh Zoo is the only place in the UK to see the gorgeous Koalas and Yang Guang their Giant Panda as he enjoys his daily snacks of bamboo. There are also live video feeds on a number of other of its enclosures, including the penguins, rockhopper penguin and tigers.
Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden
The zoo at Cincinnati Ohio is doing things a little differently. Every day at 3pm EST the zoo goes live on Facebook to feature a different animal at their zoo. Each video stream also includes an at-home kids activity which can be found on their website.
ZSL London Zoo
London Zoo are also bringing the zoo into your home. With webcams and live streams of their animals to one of our favourites their zookeeper videos.
Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Sea Otter Cam
This amazing aquarium has lots of live cams including sharks, jellyfish and penguins but our favourites are the sea otters.
Dublin Zoo has live webcam feeds for its penguin, elephant and the African Savanna enclosures, where you can watch their rhinos, giraffes, ostrich and zebras.
