Blackpill Lido

Blackpill Lido is a great way to spend a sunny day with the family at Swansea’s very own outdoor water park.  It is an old fashioned open air paddling pool, located on the promenade in Swansea Bay.  The water is shallow making it easy for little ones to paddle in.

On a hot day it is an excellent place to take children for a free day out.  The girls were laughing having fun playing in the water.  It feels like we were on holiday rather than a short distance from home. My daughters thought the pool was brilliant and had a couple of hours fun playing in the water and fountains.  The pool was clean and there are toilets located here.

bpl2There is also a children’s play area, climbing rock, shop and picnic facilities.  The Junction cafe / restaurant next to the Lido for refreshments and there is seating available outside to watch your little ones play.  We brought our own snacks with us and then headed to the Mumbles for food.

Remember to bring a swimming costume or spare clothes, sun cream and blanket or chairs to sit on.

The Swansea Bay rider land train stops off at the Lido and will take you to the nice seaside town of Mumbles.

There is various car park which are Pay and Display on the Derwen Fawr Junction. There is a car park next to the Woodman Pub that is just over the road – There is limited parking here which is designated for the pub and Clyne gardens.  On a sunny day the lido can become extremely busy at peak times. There is a 9 hole Pitch and Putt Golf Course a few hundred yards away where equipment can be hired.

Nearby attractions are the beach, Clyne Gardens, the Bay Rider land train and Swansea Bay.  There is plenty to do to ensure a great family day out.
