Review – Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club Manchester

For our weekend break in Manchester we had a two night stay at the Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club located just outside of Manchester.

We booked the Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club as we were looking for a hotel that was close to both Manchester city centre and the attractions at the Trafford Centre such as LEGOLAND Discover Centre, Sealife Manchester and Chill Factore.

This article is our review of the Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club.

As you turn from the main road onto the meandering drive which leads to the hotel, your first impressions are how beautiful the grounds are and it felt like the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of Manchester. The Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club is set in 200 acres of grounds complete with a 18 hole championship golf course. Car parking was complimentary and there were lots of spaces available.

The lobby area of the hotel was beautifully decorated and welcoming and check-in was welcoming, fast and efficient.

The hotel has 158 rooms across three different categories – deluxe, superior and junior suites.  Our room was nicely appointed with two comfortable double beds, a seating area with two comfy armchairs as well as a great size desk if you needed to catch up on work.

Within our room we were greeted with a birthday brownie, shortbread, soft drinks, jelly beans and a balloon for our daughter’s birthday which was a really nice gesture.

Our rooms contained the facilities you’d expect in this standard of hotel – large flat screen TV, complimentary high speed WiFi WiFi (free when booking direct with Marriott for their Marriott Reward Members which is free to join), tea and coffee making facilities and a selection of magazines. Minor quibbles was that there was no air conditioning in the room and there were very few electrical sockets making it difficult to charge electrical devices, which we found strange in a modern hotel.

Our room had lovely views of the beautiful countryside and another lovely touch was in the morning after housekeeping had been to your room, chocolates were placed on your bed.

The bathroom was small and somewhat dated, but was clean with good quality toiletries.

The walls toward the health club were decorated with lots of signed football and rugby shirts from around the world who have stayed at the hotel, which my husband loved looking at.

The swimming pool area was a nice way to unwind after a busy day exploring Manchester, and the girls couldn’t wait to try it out. It met our high expectations, as it was very clean, with pool towels, family changing and locker room (£1 returnable), sauna and steam room. The hotel also had a spa and gym although we didn’t have time to use these facilities.

There are lots of beautiful communal spaces to relax in, two on-site restaurants, a lounge with comfy sofas, and a lovely bar area to relax at night with a good selection of cocktails, beers and wines.

Breakfast was served at Grill in the Park the hotel’s restaurant.  This was delightful and of a very high standard with a chef making fresh omelettes and fried eggs to order.

Breakfast had an excellent selection of food on offer from hot cooked breakfast to small pastries, fruit and cereals.

Complemented by very good service, the breakfast at The Worsley Park Marriott is highly recommended and I can see why it has been voted the best breakfast in the North West by Trivago.

Home to a 18 hole championship golf course the grounds of the Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club were simply stunning. It was nice to walk around the hotel to take in some of the fantastic scenery.

The Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club is an excellent family friendly hotel and is highly recommended.

Situated just a 5 minute drive away from the M60 it’s in a great location for lots of family attractions in and around Manchester such as the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, Chill Factore, SEA Life Manchester, Trafford Centre and the National Football Museum.

We booked direct with Marriott, because it offered free wifi, and their best price guarantee.  There were also some really good special offers such as free breakfast when paying with VISA.
